NTC Promenade Seeks Leasing Specialist
as Temporary Full-Time Employee or Independent Contractor
NTC Promenade is the remarkable endeavor to transform 28 acres and 26 historic buildings within the former Naval Training Center in Point Loma to a civic, arts and cultural destination for the San Diego region. It is an $85 million redevelopment investment that is of the size and scale unlike any other cultural project in San Diego and presents San Diego with an opportunity not seen since the creation of Balboa Park nearly a century ago.
NTC Promenade is the Civic, Arts and Cultural District within the heart of Liberty Station, the award-winning mixed use community developed by The Corky McMillin Companies in partnership with the City of San Diego. The 26 historic buildings within NTC Promenade are the responsibility of the NTC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation established in 2000. To date, six of the 26 buildings have been beautifully restored by the Foundation and provide a home to meeting and special event venues and 26 resident groups, including San Diego Ballet, John Malashock Dance, Jean Isaacs Dance, the New Americans Museum, the San Diego Watercolor Society, Quilt Visions, ARTS (A Reason to Survive), Solare Ristorante, the Karate Academy, and numerous other non-profit organizations and other tenants.
The first phase of NTC Promenade was financed with a blend of private contributions, a grant from the Redevelopment Agency, Historic and New Market Tax Credit financing, and a conventional construction loan. Similar financing is being structured for the next phase. In August 2008, the Foundation began rehabilitation on the first of 12 former barracks buildings. Additional barracks and other buildings are poised for construction starts, dependent on securing letters of intent from tenants as required by prospective lenders to close construction financing.
Leasing Specialist Position
The NTC Foundation is currently seeking a well-qualified individual experienced in commercial leasing to assist the program and development team by securing appropriate non-profit and for-profit tenants meeting the Foundation’s mission to create a vibrant Civic, Arts and Cultural District. The person sought must share the vision for NTC Promenade and bring creative, strategic, and dynamic enthusiasm and expertise to the Foundation’s team. Commercial leasing experience must be in urban environments where tenants are local or “feel local”—NTC Promenade seeks to be a “one of a kind” regional destination.
Commercial leasing experience is to include proven results in the development of marketing plans, collateral materials and strategies, identification and outreach to prospective tenants, negotiation and execution of letters of intent and leases, and on-going communication with lessees during the pre-construction and construction process.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right person—come join the Foundation in making a meaningful difference in the future of San Diego!
Resumes and reference information should be sent immediately to info@ntcfoundation.org.
The structure of the compensation package is open to negotiation; however, if the position were Temporary Full-Time, the funded position with benefits might approximate $60,000 per year. The position will remain open until filled.
